1. Start by grouping with members or friends in the guild. If you don’t know anyone, send an officer a /tell, asking about the current recruitment status. Next PM (on these forums) said officer details about yourself - character name/class, playtimes, AA, guild history, current expansion flags and a link to your EQ2 profile.
2. We expect our players to be mature, first and foremost. We would rather have someone with slightly lower playtime, and a good attitude, then the most uber person on the server who is also a pain in the ass. Level requirement for new members is level 78, and will be raised as the game moves forward. Old ED members may be exempted from this, if you left the guild with honor.
3. We will likely guild invite you as a recruit so you can get to know everyone, and we get to know you. After a probation period you will either be booted or made a full member. Typically this is one month. If your raid attendance falls below 70% during this month you will be booted no questions asked.
4. Our loot system is Merit-based. New members should not expect loot, even if they're the only SK on a raid and a SK-only CA drops. While our system is not DKP-based, loot and attendance records are posted for all members to view. Additionally, Cooperation between members is a must. If you do not like helping your guild mates, even when it doesn’t suite you, then this is NOT the guild for you.
5. YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO LISTEN TO AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS...this means if you are told to do something by the leader of a raid, you do it, no matter how odd it may seem to you. If you aren't sure, ask someone in tells. Finally, members are expected to have a certain level of situational awareness - knowing where they are relative to camp, where they need to be and where the mobs are.
6. Be on frequently. Enlightened Dark is an active guild, if you join our ranks you should be someone who plays a lot and enjoys the game. We are a guild of EQ2-addicts, but we understand that real-life interferes with gaming plans all too often, and try to work with members to keep the guild running as a well-oiled machine. Right now we ask that players be able to maintain a raid attendance percentage of 70%. Of course most people will play more then that, working on leveling, quests, etc. Failure to maintain that level of attendance may result in sanctions ranging from being benched for a higher percentage raider, to getting no loot, to being guild removed.
7. Members are expected to play their primary character as originally invited. If you decide to start or pursue an alt-character, you may do so on your free time provided you keep your main up-to-date. If a raid is called, you are expected to be there if you're online, on your primary character 15 minutes before raid time. If you arrive at 7:01 you will not be given credit for the hour of 7:00-8:00.
8. Your PC/connection must be able to perform in a raid-setting. A LD or severely lagged character does us no good on a raid. EQ2 is a hardware-intensive game, so keeping up with the current system requirements is mandatory, or at the least knowing how to turn down all settings when in a large group situation.
9. You should know your class. While we certainly don't expect you to be familiar with our strategies or raid habits, you should know your class inside-out. If you aren't sure about a particular situation, ask another member of your class on the raid. You should become familiar quite quickly with the equipment and role requirements of your class on our raids.
10. Members are required to read the guild forums frequently for information.
11. Enlightened Dark is a NO - Drama guild. If you have an issue you need to send a /t or send an in game mail or private message to an officer about your concerns or troubles. Public temper tantrums and major outbursts on forums and or guild chat will not be tolerated. Stomping off and logging either from raids or groups will likely result in guild removal. No matter how frustrating things are mature actions are needed to make progress in fixing issues.
12. Raid groups are built for success. There will be times that each member will get bumped from raids or be benched due to needed class be placed into a raid for success of all. We also know that it is normal for every player not to always like or get along with ever other guild member, however groups are made for overall raid success and you may not always be placed with your friends. You may not always like who your joined with but as a raid member you are expected to do your job flawless in spite of your personal feelings toward someone.
Final Thoughts - If you join ED with just loot as your concern, you will be disappointed. We play for two reasons, for fun and to win. Loot comes because of this.
